Interfaith Environmental Conference in Orange County Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Ed Begley, Jr. Oct. 27

Orange, Calif. (PRWEB) October 15, 2007 -- The Orange County Interfaith Coalition for the Environment (OCICE) will celebrate its 10th Annual "Caring for Creation" Conference on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Sisters of St. Joseph, 480 S. Batavia St. in Orange, Calif. The interfaith event is open to all.

The conference will feature two leading lights of the environmental movement based in Southern California - Ed Begley, Jr. and Reverend Canon Peter Gwillim Kreitler - as well as seven workshops with experts discussing real-world, practical solutions to environmental challenges. Music and an Earth Celebration of different faiths will also be featured. A continental breakfast and lunch will also be provided.

"We appreciate the support over the past 10 years from many in the Southern California communities of faith as well as all those concerned about the environment," said Margaret Henke, OCICE co-chair. "We continue to believe we are at a turning point in history when environmental considerations must become paramount and that faith communities must lead the way."

Begley and Rev. Kreitler will give separate talks with a joint question-and-answer session with conference attendees. Begley's talk is titled, "Live Simply So that Others May Simply Live," while Kreitler's talk is titled, "SOS for the Planet - Shifting Our Strategies." Begley's wife, Rachelle Carson, will offer her insights as well.

Serving on the boards of several environmental groups, Begley has been considered an environmental leader in the Hollywood community for many years. Recently, Begley was featured on "Living with Ed," a TV show focusing on his passion for the environment and co-starring Ms. Carson.

An Episcopal minister for three decades and speaker at the inaugural OCICE conference, Rev. Kreitler is founder and host of "EarthTalk Today," an environmental TV talk show based in Los Angeles. Kreitler is a minister to the environment for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, member of the steering committee of the Episcopal Environmental Network, and author of "The Earth's Killer C's."

For general admission, pre-paid reservations for the "Caring for Creation" conference are $40, and $50 at the door. For students and seniors over 65, fees are $25 with no increase at the door. Admission includes the continental breakfast and lunch. All clergy are admitted free.
